Ibrahim-Iba to his friends and family, was born at the Columbia Hospital for Women in 1977. Both of his parents were born in Senegal West Africa and attended the University of France in the 70's. His father was then offered a broadcasting job for the French Branch of Voice of America in Washington DC. The family moved to the area and that is when Iba's life in the DC/VA/Baltimore Metropolitan area began. They lived in a high rise with an east view of the Potomac River and Reagan National Airport for the first 7 years.
This area has always been his home. He can remember going to Orioles games in Baltimore, Redskins games at JFK, and monster truck events at US Air Arena. He attended elementary schools in Arlington, Middle & High Schools in Springfield, and George Mason University in Fairfax.
Growing up in this area he has met all of the most amazing people. He has heard all languages, inhabited all beautiful cultures, been in the homes of military families, agricultural families, wealthy families, and less fortunate families, and learned so much. He is full of ethnic & cultural diversity. With all of these diverse families he had many opportunities to tag along for their family hobbies and activities.
In his years he learned how to be a competitive hiker, extreme camper, canoeist, water skier, wake boarder, skier, snowboarder, tennis player, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, basketball, football, fresh & saltwater fisherman, snake charmer (NOT REALLY), tropical fish hobbyist, and golfer. Even became an Eagle Scout in 94 "Always be prepared".
His bonds with people are stronger than liquid nails. He loves to share his life with others as he possesses so many great influential moments with every person he comes in contact with. He is a transparent individual, left-handed, creative, and a great conversationalist. He is commonly knick named Tenacious D, D'Event planner, D Problem solver, and D-BBQ. If you are wondering why the D?his last name starts with a "D". His grilled BBQ chicken is amazing! He can talk for hours, days, and weeks. I guess that's what you get for having a father who is a broadcaster. Plus, he is always on stage! He has been the best man of 7 weddings in the last 8 years with 2 more to participate in this year?
His first job was life guarding a lake in Gore, VA for the summer. He has worked as a mechanic, shop foreman, home construction (while in college), Graphic Designer, Restaurant Manager for Austin Grill, and worked with Department of Defense Graphics.
At 32 years of age he has done so much in so many different areas. He has watched baseball with Ted Kennedy in his kitchen, participated in book signings & many dinners for Hillary Clinton, and social events with Donald Rumsfeld. Some of his greatest achievements include a 5 day 63 mile hiking/camping trip to Pinnacle Rock (Appalachian Trail). A four day, 92 mile biking trip on the Chesapeake Trail. Through On Tap Magazine he hosted the Save the Bay Foundation and Wind Power through music concerts in the Baltimore Harbor & Spirit of Washington Cruises on the Potomac River. Designing & Producing the 911 Fallen Heroes Memorial Exhibit in the Pentagon was a special honor to him.
How did he end up with Brown's Fairfax Mazda?
He loves cars! He loves people, and loves being young spirited. What more can I say. He loves to share hours of conversation with people. He has sold thousands of Mazda vehicles. He loves to encourage people to do the right thing and his staff is a combination of people who simply love people in this great area we call home. Voila, yet another great family here in Northern VA at Brown's Fairfax Mazda. If you do get a chance?visit him with a story. He would love to hear it. Meet him and surely you will make a new friend.
